MISSION STATEMENT
This program is designed to assist people with a criminal/troubled past, who, after being released from prison, need to focus on living socially acceptable and productive lives--some of them for the first time. The cost to families, the judicial system, taxpayers and countless victims has to be reversed. Our culture has to be prepared to turn a blight into a self-sufficient resource.
Obviously, recidivism is the tail side of the rehabilitation coin. The popular thought in our culture is that punishment, even humiliating punishment, is tantamount to rehabilitation. Some of our more advanced thinkers hold that skills' training is the key to a reformed life, but the extraordinarily high recidivism numbers contradict those notions. The numbers truly scream that our prior notions and long held beliefs are wrong. What they are telling us is to look for an approach that addresses the whole person.
We have a simple equation: Heal the whole person, and that person becomes an invaluable resource for healing others. Then we begin the process of eliminating the environmental conditions that support and facilitate a criminal lifestyle.
